Queen Adelaide - All That Remains of the 2022 Bee Monarchy

  • Adelaide and a handful of daughters were all that was left of last year's bees

  • Unmarked, she often tried to escape the hive

  • Caged to prevent attacks from the shake of bees given from Queen Camilla's small colony.

  • Had a handful of daughters left attending.

  • She was laying before being caged- 3 eggs per cell.

  • Apivar treatment given (Good Friday, April 7th, 2023)

  • May 17th - bees were uninterested when the queen cage was removed to observe queen. Did not congregate on cage


May 20th, 2023


Adelaide has begun laying again.













Apivar (mite control) strip can come out.
